Ok let's start one here step by step...

On/off turns the scanner on or off. To turn the scanner On turn the Volume knob CW (clockwise) the ways the hands turn on old timey clocks..

Is that the kind of Dummy Manual you require?
You've already failed, some need a step 1: Remove from box, step 2: Plug into power, step 3: Sit down.

Like I said I can't force myself to dumb it down as needed. So we need a volunteer...

Good job Mike, yet another case of someone showing a little initiative and effort and finding the answer themselves, well done. :)

I wouldn't mind one. I know it may be easy for those who didn't miss the last few generations of scanners with digital system capabilities, but when my own county finalized the switch (P25), I thought, "Well, that's that". So, when looking into HF antennas, I happened across an advert for the SDS200 and thought the time has come. And this radio is amazing! And I'm sure even more than I know lol. Which brings me to:
While I'm slowly but surely sorting things out--and will continue to, for sure--the handful of available Youtube guide-vids (scannermaster, the awesome Upman, and others) are great, they seem to assume some familiarity with the last few models of radios. I can't be the only one to think An in-depth* guide would be immensely appreciated.

*Some of us need a little more depth lol

Thanks,
Erik

The easier to read manual for the BCD536HP/BCD436HP may help. Many of the features carried over to the SDS200.

I'm sure there's a bit of over thinking it here. But, again, there's seems to be a lot of assuming and dismissiveness going on when asking for help. Some embrace the chance to help. Others feel the need to make you feel like a "monkey" and direct you to look elsewhere.
That said, there is some very basic instruction on Youtube, and maybe, hopefully, there's more coming. Anyway, all good.
I think the problem you may be running into is that you are essentially asking someone to write a book. I know my whole department would love to have something like that, and probably almost everyone on RR as well... but as someone who spent a few years of their life taking complex things and writing books for the general public, it is a very time consuming skill and not something just anyone can do, and they may have to do it as a charity.

I am forever grateful of the guy who did the marks scanners stuff.

Having written or co-written many of the articles (and a few wiki books) in our wiki, I can safely say that it certainly can be time consuming. However I think this is being overblown somewhat. As I understand it, since I don't have these scanners yet, Mark's guides for the 436 and 536 are about 90% of the new SDS scanners operations. Therefore, the need is to document those features, like the filters, that are not well documented in Mark's manuals (or at all). Along with that would be screen shots on how to implement those features in ProScan, ARC536 and Sentinel. One person wouldn't need to do it all - it could be spread among 3 folks, one for each software package, insofar as the screenshots and software is concerned.

I didn't say it was easy, but a whole new book is simply not needed. Some updates are....Mike

The manual is not new-to-digital-user friendly, that's all. But the SDS200 is well worth some extra effort. I'm done spazzing about it. All good. Thanks everybody.

LOL...spazzing? Wow. I thought I was bad when I first turned mine on. I still think that not everything is the same as the 536/436. I am currently taking notes on Easter eggs I have been finding with use of the keypad. Once I am done I will first share with Paul so Uniden knows firsthand and then to RR. So far I have found 10.
