Hi Guys,
Just got my SDS200 today. One thing I noticed, when upgrading firmware, (mine needed it), at the end it says, "press and hold the power button to begin the update". This must be left over from the SDS100 cuz it doesn't work on the SDS200. Pressing and holding the power button does nothing. So I took a chance and powered off the SDS200 and then turned it back on again. Voila! It worked.

Hey, did anybody set their display to stay on all the time? I went to Menu / Display options / Backlight options / Set timer / Keypress / and set it to infinite. Now it stays on all the time.
Ya think that's OK? I mean on the SDS100 its an issue because of battery consumption but on the SDS200 who cares, right?
Let me know if my thinking is correct here. I don't want to burn out the display!

Per the other thread, the Uniden website has now been updated so that you can register the SDS200 and purchase the upgrades, if desired.

If this was already posted here and I missed it I apologize for repeating; I read the thread, I swear.

Current setup:
SDS200 with Comet DS150 discone, Sirio SD3000N discone, and Comet KP20. Antennas fed into Stridsberg MCA204A with lmr400 coax. Open port on combiner has a 50ohm load. 20db 25 to 2000mhz pre-amp.

First impressions:
It's big. Works great as a base, but would be tough in some mobile installs. Used stick on urethane feet for base install.
The display is also big, which is a good thing. Data is clearly visible, which is a real plus.
It's pretty. Even has backlit keys which can be set via the menu. Menu button has been combined with squelch knob. Has a headphone jack right on the front.

Receive audio is excellent. Plenty of audio to drive any speaker, no amp needed. Some local signals were a bit harsh, activated the attenuator for these sites and audio is good like the rest.

Location is 1150' ASL.
Hearing aviation traffic from Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and both Carolinas. Ancient Mary audio is quite good, and the squelch works well.

Hearing low band VHF conventional stations in Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia.

UHF DMR systems are coming in well also.

700/800 Mhz P25 systems are where this rig is amazing. Copying AFRN from east Alabama, TACAN from southeast Tennessee , and systems all over Georgia. It is routine to receive P25 systems up to a 150 miles, which still surprises me.

I feel it receives a little better than the SDS100. The main thing I like about the SDS200 is the versatility in frequency and range. Instead of having multiple rigs covering specific frequencies and modes, I have one that will do it all. I sold my 536 and 436, and combined the various antennas for a much streamlined desktop.

Using ARC99 for programming, and Pro Scan on the computer. Both work well.
Have not played with LAN feature yet.

Big thanks to UPman for all his work on these fantastic rigs.
And thanks to Jeff at Ham Station for having the rig shipped direct from Texas.

Did you notice that if you turn the display OFF the keypad remains lit! WTF Never seen that on any Uniden scanner the keypad is either off or on. If ON it is on all the time. Keypad seems to be independent of the display.

Well, to sum things up. The SDS 200 has some issues with noise like the x36 recall. Has a backlight issue like the 100 does. Did I miss anything? BTW, I haven't noticed those issues with the one I have.

Could you please connect any of you other amateur rigs to the spare port of the Stridsberg and compare receiver sensitivity and intermod issues on analog channels in as much frequency band as possible where you are able to find analog signals? Airport towers constant info channels, weather channels that are weak, pager transmitters in different frequency bands, and so on.

While running PROSCAN it allows you to connect to listen to or make changes to the SDS200 from anywhere you have a network connection or internet connection.

Just to help clarify, could you answer this question - since I don’t have one.
Would you use the LAN port to do controls and audio, versus the USB/3.5mm, for streaming? Essentially using one cable versus two, and potentially locating the scanner physically anywhere you have a network connection, versus being tied to your streaming server.
Is that accurate to say?

On all 4 of my 536's and now my SDS200 I use wifi for the simple reason I can use the scanner volume control and not affect the recording or streaming levels if I just want to listen to one scanner.
Wifi bridge from Amazon $20 Vonets VAP11G-300 Wireless Portable Wifi Repeater/Bridge
Power splitter Amazon $6 ESUMIC DC Power Female to Male Splitter Adapter Cable
This bridge is great and easy to setup power input 5 volts to over 12 volts DC I am using the power splitter and splitting the scanner power for the scanner and bridge.
