My DHCP issues with my 200 were so bad that it would lose an IP every few minutes. Which none of my PCs do on the router.
That's really strange. I've never had any device lose an IP that quickly. What's your lease time set to?

This is as simple as I can make it.
Once the SDS200 gets its address when the dhcp time expires a cheap router will drop for just a few seconds THIS LOCKS UP THE PORT OF THE SDS200
I work with cheap stuff all the time working on CCTV ACCESS CONTROL and see this in my logs.
I don't need it simple; I know this stuff very well. It doesn't make sense that a router "will drop". What do you mean by that?

For what it's worth, I've never seen this on any router, including a cheapo. Remember the successor to the WRT54G that was a dud?

I think it has to do with, that I saw in the IP reserve list that my router automatically makes IP reserves for PCs because it recognizes what they are. I also saw that my router never made any auto IP reserves for my SDS200 because it doesn't recognize what it is. But manually making an IP reserve for the scanner gave it a "permanent, always on, never relenting" LAN connection which I was thrilled to see.

DHCP software doesn't create an automatic IP reservation, at least I've never seen one yet. They will "approve", if you will, the existing IP that a system already has. But hey, as long as you got it working, that's all that's needed. (y)
