I am planning to purchase a SDS 200. I live in Shed/house with steel external and Interior skins. I plan to use an external antenna on my roof peak. I want to be able to hear the scanner in the apartment portion of the building as well as the shop part of the building. I am leaning toward a Bluetooth transmitter plugged into the Aux port on the SDS 200. I believe this disables the built in speaker on the scanner; thus, I need a Bluetooth system that connects to 2 or more Bluetooth speakers simultaneously. If you have experience with this scenario, please respond.

I use a UGreen BT adapter plugged into the front headphone jack and powered by the USB-A port on the front. Works perfectly

The specific model I have is no longer sold but substitutes are easily found.

Simplification - you may also use a 'splitter' connector, plug your Bluetooth transmitter into one arm of the Y, and plug a local powered speaker into the other.

Thank you for your feedback. I like where you are going with this. Would I be able to forget the Bluetooth speaker all together? Thus plugging 2 powered speakers into the “splitter.” One for the apartment and one for the shop? The scanner will be in the apartment on a common wall with the shop so speaker wire length shouldn’t not be an issue.

Certainly - if you can run enough cord to your secondary location and keep from tripping on it (staple it to the wall or something similar.)

I've wired up stereo systems (using 8-10 speakers) for shops that were over 100' long, internally. You'd be surprised what can be done. . . (Granted, that many speakers over that much space took a little creativity to wire up without crosstalk or echoing from different speaker pairs. . .) What you want to do is quite simple - it's just a matter of finding an 1/8'' audio extension cord that is long enough to reach where you want to go, and finding a method to keep it from underfoot.

Thank you. You have been very helpful! Do you have powered speaker you would recommend for compatibility to Uniden SDS 200 scanner? The speakers will need to have independent volume controls. I’m not worried about cord length. The speaker wire will go through the wall into the shop directly behind the scanner and mounted on the shop wall. It will only need to be about 4’ long. These speakers will need to be AC powered to avoid having a AC/DC converter. Thanks again for your input!

I can't think of any offhand, since I haven't looked at powered speakers for a bit. You can probably find one if you have a stereo setup in the same room with an AUX device input, that will require a cable with a 1/8" phono jack on one end to 2xRCA jack on the other.

For the other set (or both, if you haven't a stereo with an AUX port,) I figure any computer multimedia speakers should work. Logitech and Creative have both given good results for the money, on the lower end of the price spectrum. You don't need much, since it's all spoken word you're listening to.

If you don't have an electronics house local, there's Amazon, NewEgg, and a few others I can't recall offhand (and that have probably moved or folded up anyhow, I need to update my list.)
