I have set up three custom searches to use while scanning with my 996P2. It works very well, scanning all of my systems then searching through the three custom searches I've set up, then returning to the systems and doing the whole thing over and over again.

UNLESS...

I put the scanner in "Priority" mode. Then, the scanner will "hold" in the first custom search it hits. It won't proceed to the next system, it just keeps searching within that custom search range.

Once I remove "Priority", it searches and proceeds to the next system as normal.

I would like to use Priority and have some Custom Searches going too. Is there a setting for this that I'm missing?

SOLVED!!! Must set "HOLD" Time in Searches!

I discovered the solution to the problem of the scanner "holding" in custom "Search With Scan" searches when scanning with Priority ON.

You MUST set the HOLD time in the Search.

Dig into "Search With Scan", and you'll find the HOLD time option. I had to set it to 14 seconds for the search to get all the way from the lo freq to the hi freq.

If the HOLD time is 0 the scanner will just scan within the assigned search range and will not return to any other systems.

Now, with Priority ON, the scanner performs my custom searches for the length of time set by the HOLD parameter, then moves on to the next enabled system.

It picks up where it left off once it returns to the search.

It's a little counter-intuitive, that you have to set HOLD for it NOT to HOLD, but that's how it works!

I'm sure this will work with the pre-programmed searches too!!!

Hope this helps!!!
