Hello all,

I currently have a GP-3 antenna connected to my 9700. I am planning on buying an Anytone 578UVIII Plus. I don't want to share the antenna between the two radios via a switch. I would like to install a second GP-3 antenna. The thing is that the second antenna will be at the same hight and about 3 feet away from the first one. I know it's not ideal but i don't have much choice. On the 9700 i rarely use more than 3 watts and i suspect it will be about the same with the anytone. Assuming the worse case scenario where i will use any of the two radios at full power i would like to know what are chances of damaging one of the 2 radios while TX with the other.

Many thanks

I've got a 9700.. I have a tower with a Comet GP-95 tri band vertical mounted above a set of 2 meter and 70 cm Yagis (see image below) I use the GP-95 for FM. The Yagis are for SSB/CW.

I didn't want to use a switch either, so I have a dedicated FM radio. The vertical is connected to my Kenwood TH-D74 handheld that sits next to he IC-9700. The Yagis are connected to the 9700 which is dedicated to SSB use.

I sometimes run the 9700 at 100W doing FT8 while listening to the D74 on FM. (I occasionally run 600W on 432 MHz). Other than a bit of de-sensing on some frequencies, I've never had a problem.
