Thanks Ski, right now the quicktime is crashing, I'll work on that later.
Glad we didn't personally witness the accident. I'm hoping all show organizers will re-evaluate the need for these kind of stunts, and eliminate them from future events. Any form of aviation is inherently dangerous enough as it is, people should not be permitted to have a stage like that where they are encouraged to unnecessarily risk their lives to entertain others.
Neither me or Ski picked up much traffic about the fatality on the scanners. My scanners are loaded with almost exclusively aviation control freqs, and apparently the few old emergency freqs in the 162=174 mhz band that I have are no longer active. We could hear the planes buzzing around but couldn't see them from our vantage point, and weren't even paying any attention ,,, The first we heard of it was when some lady listening to the PA feed on her car radio told us some accident happened.
I was there in 1994 when an F-84 painted in Tbirds scheme fatally plunged in. I was on the base that time and unfortunately witnessed it. Back then scanners were not routine and my radio was buzzing non stop, so much so that a large crowd gathered around to listen.
