I use Parallels on my Mac to run Sentinel and Proscan.
Mike: do you happen to have a go-by to setup parallels with a serial port and link it through to proscan? Im trying to get my scanner connected and I currently see the ports within parallels/windows 11 but I can't get the link to actually connect to the scanner.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you could provide.

In Parallels you need to assign the USB device to either MacOS or Windows. This is done in the Devices menu in Parallels:

With Parallels running on the Mac and the guest OS (Windows) also running do this:
  • Plug in the USB cable to the Mac and the radio,
  • Turn the radio on and put it in Mass Storage Mode. (This is what most people forget!)
  • Wait a few seconds for the computer to detect it.
  • Go into the Device Menu in Parallels and select it and assign it to the Windows guest OS.
Once the USB device (in this case the SD Card within the radio) is assigned to Windows it should soon show up in Windows Explorer with a drive letter and also in Sentinel's popup when selecting Read or Write Scanner.

I have run Parallels on the Mac for years with Sentinel, ProScan, ARC-xx and others and most things will work well. The newer Apple Silicon Macs have some driver issues so older serial cables do not always work but Sentinel works just fine with any of the radios Sentinel supports.

Thanks for the responses... I got it working with my SDS100 now I have to get it working for my 780... I've been real busy with work and haven't been able to spend that much time on it but didn't want to be rude and not say thanks in somewhat of a timely manner!
