In my feeble efforts to update the firmware of this damn SDS 100, I have now screwed up Sentinel.

I downloaded the latest version of Sentinel, but it is showing the access to pathway denied.

So, I went into the control panel and nuked the other version of Sentinel. I thought this would fix things, but I was very wrong.

When I hooked my 436HP to the newest version of Sentinel, the same thing is present when I try to open a Favorite. I simply changed a startup key and it wouldn't keep it.

I reverted back to an earlier version of the firmware. Will the new Sentinel update still work for the older firmware? If not, where can I find the previous version of Sentinel? Please.

I got to thinking about whether or not the download from Firefox might have screwed things up. I have tried to repair the Sentinel, but it does not work.

I am going to make one more effort and then I am going to try to stop thinking about slamming this radio into the wall.

Did you (the OP) unzip it and install it?
Yes. I downloaded it and then unzipped it with the extract files like always. I used Microsoft Edge. When I opened it, it would not open with me as administrator. However, it showed the "I accept." I went forward. Windows 10 stated asked if the software was from a trusted source. I pressed more & attempted to install it.

Please, let me have the earlier version of Sentinel. It was working fine. Now, the same thing is happening with my 436HP. The new version of Sentinel is really pissing me off.

I have followed the same procedures to download and load Sentinel. Nothing has changed in the way I do this. I am using the one in the bottom tool bar. Maybe I need to go to the desktop to open it.

Check the properties of the file. Right click on it and look under security, then edit as needed.

What version of windows are you running? You should be able to right click on the exe file, and run as admin.

Also, control panel remove programs does not always remove all traces of a program. Usually some folders are left behind which can easily be deleted. But entries are also left in the registry.

I already looked there and there was a lot of crap that I did not recognize. I tried to run this as the administrator. Generally speaking, when I right click on this file it will have "open as administrator." But, I cannot find it.

Before I read this reply, it was suggested that I rename the file, which I did just now. Consequently, my Favorites are no longer showing up in Sentinel, a new wrinkle in this mess I've made of things.

At least this time it gave me a list of the radios. I selected the SDS 100, but the attached screen shot showed what happened.

Truthfully, I don't know what to do now.

On the DB corruption problem, do this
1. Stop Sentinel
2. Go to the folder C:\ProgramData\Uniden\BCDx36HP_Sentinel\Database
and delete all the files
3. Start Sentinel. You should see a message "Reconstructing Full Database"

Before I read this, I went to the control panel and uninstalled Sentinel. I have done this around 10 times now. So, I am going to try this again. Then, I will see if I can find the file you mentioned. When I went to C drive, I could not find that program data. I did see a lot of the software I have in this computer though.

"ProgramData" is a hidden folder. Just cut & paste the whole folder path into File Explorer which should take you to the Database folder.

Thank you. That worked. It restored my favorites. At least that part was saved, but I Sentinel still won't work.

It shouldn't have done anything with the Favorites as the favorites are not stored there, just the full database.
What's not working now.?

"Saving Favorites List failed. Access to path is denied." Someone told me to rename the Uniden file in the program files. I put, "Uniden2."

Now, there is "Uniden" and "Uniden2." I am guessing I need to nuke the 1st one?

The original problem. "Saving Favorites List File failed. Access to path is denied."
The favorites and the full database are different things.

The favorites are stored here if using the Sentinel default folder . Don't delete anything here.
C:\Users\bob\OneDrive\Documents\Uniden\BCDx36HP\FavoriteLists

Can you go to that folder. You should see the index file f_list.cfg and a file for every favorite starting with f_000001.hpd
