I am running an SDS200 with the Sentinel software and would like to know if I can leave the software cable plugged in and then just hit a hot key or combination of keys to upload a change and then another key to go back to scanning without removing the cable?

Sentinel does not have a feature to send commands to the scanner, other than reading or writing data to & from the scanner when the scanner is in mass storage mode.

However, if you use ProScan, and have the scanner connected to your PC so that you can log whatever it is receiving, in ProScan, you can send a command to the scanner to put it into mass storage mode, which is the only mode that Sentinel can use to connect to the scanner. In ProScan, you can send a command to have the scanner go into mass storage mode for a specific time frame. Then you can read or wriye prohramming information to or from the scanner via either Sentinel or ProScan.

I was hoping I could do it with Sentinel thanks though

You can leave it plugged into the radio no problem. When you turn it back on you can choose to access the memory card or the serial port for control.

To clarify this, on reboot select SERIAL and you can leave it connected to the PC even though serial control is not actively used.
