Attempting to update Sentinel database (have done so successfully in the past, scanner connected or not), I receive the error message '229 Extended Passive Mode Entered':
Sentinel 1392 Error.jpg

Last 4-digit number changes from attempt to attempt.
Uninstalled/reinstalled.
Ideas?

I have just ran the Database update and it completed without issues. I wonder if perhaps you just hit it at a time the server had an issue and it has already self resolved itself.

Is all your internet equipment and provider the same from when it worked in the past?
I know there are issues with satellite providers.

edit: I just updated the x36HP version of Sentinel just fine with yesterdays DB version.
When I went to update the HP-1 version of Sentinel, it said I was current so that version may not have updated overnight.

It's not a server problem, it's a client issue. Could be related to using ipv6 ip numbers instead of ipv4 on the computer.

IP4 and IP6 are configured on the client PC. I have successfully run updates before on the same PC.

Interestingly, have not been using my VPN lately, so I connected via the VPN and the update now works fine.

Hmm. Obviously continue to use the VPN, but shouldn't have to. IPCONFIG shows same basic config on/off VPN other than final address. If I find answer will advise.

As VPN excludes any of your ISP's settings, could they recently been implementing something that makes you connect using ipv6 in normal mode? Are you actually using ipv6 for something that needs it to be active on your PC?

I'm still not sure why Uniden use cleartext FTP for serving product updates. If anyone at Uniden is reading this - please switch to HTTPS. Amazon S3 buckets are cheap and would eliminate the issue of ISPs interfering with file downloads.
