Respectfully......
Look at the thread... I was the one who answered the OP with the solution that worked. And, was thanked.
Yes the all caps and exclamations were too much. Mia culpa.

Now to your issue. ("Still haven't overcome this issue.")
It is the same problem - did you actually go to Control panel / programs and features / turn Windows features on and off / turn on .Net Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) / OK??
You don't "download" it - you turn the feature on via programs and features (and Windows downloads what it needs)

Or, Bob just answered someone - I think yesterday that was having an issue with Sentinal.
Maybe the same issue?

The answer is here - for you too ("Still haven't overcome this issue"............)

I had hope for a minute. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO! lol

Followed these directions hoping it would be as easy as you said, but WIN10 has other ideas. checked off the .Net Framework 3.5, clicked ok. Said it had to DOWNLOAD SOMETHING. Clicked on this and sure as shootin it went into an infinite loop...infinitely thinking....spoooooooling.

Went to about 1/5th of the bar turning green to load and nothing. Just kept thinking. Also wouldn't cancel using the button or close using the "X:" in the corner. (Just fabulous!!!) Was working, working, working and said to not turn off the computer. But did nothing. Tried the switch and it wouldn't turn off! (The Audacity!) Finally just turned off the power bar . Nearly had a heart attack when it came back on and was still spooling saying not to turn off computer. Then...voila. The WIN10 picture appeared and about 2 min later the desktop appeared. (Thank God!!!) Needless to say I was not having many good thoughts during all of this.

The moral of this story might well be that unless you are sitting at the computer which you are explaining how to fix, it's probably wise to suggest and not be "**** sure" of the results. As far as I can determine, it still doesn't have the required .Net 2.0 to make Sentinal work.

I really hate Windows 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am assuming you have a good Internet connection - maybe try another connection just to see it isn't ISP (maybe firewall?) related.
Can you DMZ the computer?
(Sounds like the download is being blocked somewhere...?)

Is this a 'locked down' work computer - or have you used it for work e-mail?
Do you get a permissions error?

Bob, are you monitoring and maybe have any suggestions?

It is something wrong - somewhere, on your end (machine / Internet).

All of the rest of us (99.9%) install and use Sentinel daily.
I'm sure it must be frustrating. I wrestle with Windows machines regularly, but I always figure it out.
Dell couldn't figure something out the other day - I kept at it until I did...

Your router has a firewall, even if it is the cable modem doing the NAT.
DMZ is basically 'punching' a hole in your firewall. It puts the machine's IP out in the clear, no router firewall protection. This eliminate that (ISP's modem blocking - which is doubtful) being the issue.

To me, it sounds like some permissions are wrong - some admin setting is preventing the install. Try unchecking it, rebooting and re-checking.

Yes - and no...
The orig. question was about .Net framework, which I think is your (same) issue also, right...?
And, you have not solved it - yet.

I was hoping Bob (etc.) would jump in and maybe suggest something.
You definitely have a problem getting it (.Net) to work properly and I am positive, once found, it will be a dooh! moment.
Like I said, I work with Windows everyday and I still run into bugaboos regularly, that baffle me - until I finally figure it out.
I'm (stubborn/obsessive/engineer) that way.

Basically, you have not been able to get it to work.
Let's figure out why.
On a separate thread, if you choose.
Hopefully, the group can help too?

Not Cable...DSL. Unknown if firewall, but they want you to download McAfee, which as everyone knows is worthless and slows down the computer.

You may be on to something with the permissions. That said, having run into that with updating Windows, I looked and could not find where to change it. Googling it was also futile. So was emailing Microsoft...crickets.

So for now at least I must use my laptop.

All that said, my original point was that the OP was obviously having problems and I simply felt it was insensitive to answer the way you did. It appeared to me there was some attitude or condescension involved and clearly he was struggling. I just think it's good to tutor on people struggling. I think that's what you were trying to do with me, but I didn't get that feeling with the original post you did to answer. Perhaps I was wrong but the tone seemed off. Again, perhaps I'm wrong, but I just think we should try to all be civil.

I think we're all back on track, and nessnet is doing what he can to help with this issue.

I'm not a computer "power user" like my daughter and granddaughter are, so there's probably not much I can do to help. I've been running Sentinel for a long time on a 10-year-old Toshiba laptop with Windows 10. I haven't experienced the problems others have talked about on this thread, so I believe the best thing I can do is back out and let more knowledgeable people like nessnet do the tutoring.

Good luck everyone!

Actually I did after your first thread post. Like Ikea I followed what you wrote in bold letters and it worked. Sentinel is installed on this laptop. Just curious your a computer engineer??? Now I understand your frustration to these questions...LOL But hey thanks for helping me I really appreciate it!
