serial driver problem

It sounds like they've associated with the wronger driver.

In Device Manager, with the scanner plugged in, select the Uniden COM device (or perhaps the device w/yellow triangle). Right click and "Properties". Then, update driver. Select to pick the driver yourself (not search windows update), then point to the correct driver folder.

The install files are not executables. They are driver files (inf).

No, this is the only device that shows up when I plug in the scanner in the front and select serial mode. I'm running the newest firmware.

For what it's worth, I think Uniden would do right by creating an executable driver installation package for those less technically inclined.

That still doesn't do it. Same result.

Windows GUI has made life simple for people you should had done networking in DOS 6. With that said I think if you own a computer you should be technically inclined to how it works on a basic scale that would also help stop the spread of trojans and other bugs. People should know more than where the power button is. Google is your friend.

What are you referring you?

The driver doesn't want to install. All the things that have been posted here I've done before even making the first post.

Did you unzip the serial driver? If so where to.
Uninstall the serial driver for the scanner?
The computer should find new hardware, When it does pick install the driver yourself select the folder you unzipped the driver to file should be usbser.sys PICK THIS click ok to finish.
Your driver should be working now.

You have unzipped it, right? I can't tell from that icon if it's showing a zipped file or not.

Only other thing I can think of is a UAC issue. Try another folder on your PC.

I have seen VMWARE cause problems in other things I have done not sure why you need 2 VMWARE network adapters you also have a bad printer driver and a good printer driver. Is this your only computer what OS is it running and if this is your only computer how did you update the firmware in the scanner. Also if you are running multiple OS under VMWARE that may be your problem.

I'm pretty sure my VMWare adapters and printer drivers have nothing to do with the drivers not being able to be installed. Windows says that it detected the driver. It just can't install it for whatever reason

Ill try to install the drivers on my laptop and report back.

Sounds like your PC is rejecting the driver. I bet the laptop works.

It does not look right , but could be.

I know software writers for large companies that do not support VMWARE because of conflicts. I have 6 scanners controlled by 4 computers. Did not say your printer driver was your problem just pointed this out to you. Good luck with your problems as I am done trying to help someone with an attitude.

Following this same procedure works as a charm on the laptop.

My PC just will not take this driver for w/e reason.
