You said your PC is running Win0, right? What is the laptop running?

Here is specifically what I did on my home PC (Windows 8.1):

1) Downloaded and unzipped the driver from BCD325P2 < UnidenMan4 < TWiki
2) Plugged in the scanner using a USB cable.
3) Right click on the Windows Launch icon (bottom left corner) and selected "Device Manager."
4) The device showed up with a yellow triangle.
5) Right click on device and selected "Update Driver Software."
6) Selected "Browse My Computer for Driver Software."
7) Navigated to the folder where I had unzipped the driver.
Driver installed and is assigned as: Uniden Serial Port (COM3)
Next:

a) Downloaded and unzipped the latest beta of Freescan from SixSpotSoftware.com (version 2.18 beta2
b) Ran the software.
c) Selected Download from Scanner.
d) Selected Queue System List. For some reason I had to do that a 2nd time for the systems in the scanner to appear.
e) Selected Start Download.
The systems/settings on the scanner loaded into Freescan.
