Yeah, that was about the same for me. Over time, I sent them a buch of incidents in my area and eventually i became a “dispatcher” for them, have been ever since. And since im a dispatcher its now free.I got in contact with the "Breaking News Network", they advised me the police/fire buff plan is $39.95 monthly. They said I need to pay $156.44 for my first payment which includes "the first three months of service, activation, and taxes". The price is a little hefty
I asked them for the last 5 incidents reported in my area to see if they have good coverage.
You can also get a membership package with the POCSAG/Flex pager. Unfortunately though the AMS tower for my county died in late 2016 and there is no Spok here.
