Is it possible to set up the fire tone-out feature on a BCD325P2 when the dispatch system is MPSCS P25 digital? If so, how can I do it?

One can not use a scanner to do tone out decode on an trunked system. If they are simulcasting the tones from an conventional paging system, then log that. Or find out what tones are for what dept, get an actual pager such as an Unication, and set it up.

I'm assuming that Benzie is your county. While RR shows 154.92 is a deprecated or no longer used frequency, based on the FCC license, it is fairly recent. So I'd give that frequency a listen for a while and see if there isn't some kind of tone and voice paging on its.

While Unication may do some kind of paging function on trunked systems, I'm not sure that has caught on to any great magnitude just yet.

If nothing else, you might ask this in the Michigan forum for more local knowledge.

Benzie is my county, and it just switched over the digital tone-outs (Tuesday). You are correct, I believe the county still uses 154.92 as a backup tone-out system, in case something doesn't work right on digital. I was just under the impression that it wasn't possible to do digital tone-out alerts with the 325P2. Thanks for the help!

Please monitor that 154.92 frequency and see what happens.

In many places, they retain a conventional paging frequency (such as 154.92) then patch that to a talkgroup on the trunked system. That way folks hear the dispatch traffic on both conventional and new trunked system.

If that is the case, then you can use your 325P2 for Fire Tone Out.
