OK thanks gentlemen, it works! This changes everything now. Holy smokes. OK, just in case someone else makes the same mistake as me, I had my control channel modulation set for TDMA CC instead of P25 LSM. So the unit was powering up wrong. I thought that was the setting for all of them, and I would simply click on the P25-LSB button on the bottom to get it receiving. But of course you can't do that when it is standalone.

Enjoy! I only connect my p25rx rig to a pc when I update firmware. It runs stand alone in my truck daily.

Newb question, when you use it as stand alone (headless?) how do you know what tg you are hearing?

I often find my self looking at the display on my Unication G5 or sds100 to see which tg ID I am hearing.

As a stand alone unit, it is like an old school scanner. No display would mean listening to dispatch, etc. The Wio Terminal for $40 adds a nice display for stand alone operation.

Guess I’ve been spoiled by knowing who was transmitting. I’ll try headless and maybe invest in the Wio unit eventually. Thanks

Another new option is to use Rdio-Scanner and your cell phone for the display. I found it works well with an LCD panel in the vehicle this way (using Bluetooth). I will also have support for "Broadcastify Calls" soon.

When you pair your phone with the car, it shows up. You scan replay, skip, pause with the play-back arrows.
Very cool. The phone is sending the file metadata for display. That is a cool option for leaving the rig at home and listening with the rdio app on the road with your cell data plan.

Yes, it makes it a lot easier to monitor multiple systems / analog while driving on any roads covered by cellular. You can still use the phone app to manage which groups to monitor/avoid/etc. I've tested it mobile a couple of times now. It works great.
