I have my old RS pro 95 which btw I've never been able to figure out except for entering a freq. and some other basics. Are these scanners still okay or should I get a newer one? Is there an easy to use newer model? With the online scanners do I really need a home unit?

Another question: For some reason if I turn on ch7 it hangs up there and won't scan so I have to turn off 7. I don't know if it's just in the programming of it the thing is malfunctioning. Thx for any advice

Since you didn't post what your monitoring preferences are or where you operate, it would be hard for anybody to give you a valid answer. Your scanner can't decode digital modulation so there is a lot nowadays that it won't be able to hear. But there is a lot of conventional stuff still around.

Your scanner hanging up on a channel could be due to numerous issues; again, more info is needed to diagnose it.
