There Are, but they might degrade the reception you already have. I would upgrade your antenna, before spending on a Preamp.

Are you using it as a mobile in your vehicle or at home ? At home, I'd suggest mounting the antenna as High as you can get it. If you're using it in your vehicle, then you're probably good to go.

I think a preamp in your vehicle is going to overload your scanner's front end, and hamper your ability to hear much.

Do you think I should upgrade my unit? Size is an issue. What would you suggest?

What problems are you having with current scanner? And what are you trying to monitor (not frequencies, but what systems/departments/agencies/etc)?
