Had a strange problem rear its ugly head tonight.
The Setup;
Icom 781
Heathkit SA-2060 antenna tuner
Al-811 (572B tube upgrade)
40/80 Trapped dipole at 35'
Things have been working fine, till tonight.
Went to check into my voice net on 80 and things didn't seem to tune right, during tune up it was acting like I was getting odd modulation on tuneup.
Went to check in and they thought someone was jamming. Kicked off the amp and it was a little better but still not good. lots of distortion.
After net I checked my connections and didn't see any problems. through the process of elimination when I unplugged the USB plug from the Signalink usb the problem went away. Turning off the Signalink made it worse when plugged in. With it on it sounds like someone is over deviating whistling into a mic on FM (Best way I can explain the sound).
If I unplug the radio from the signalink again the problem goes away. So I'm thinking its RF getting in somehow. even unplugging the usb from the computer and touching the outer part of the usb plug to the case I can hear it on monitor. Power out doesn't seem to make a difference.
It was working fine for awhile, then tonight problems....
Ideas?
