All public safety customers have been migrated to the LCRA P25 system. LCRA's support contract on OpenSky with L3-Harris ends in the next year or so with the rumor being that the OpenSky system will be migrated to LTE-M to provide better data services which is something LCRA has heavily invested in with their fiber network.

Everything in Hays County is on the LCRA P25 system. Only San Marcos PD is encrypted. HCSO, Kyle PD, FD/EMS, and Texas State University PD are clear.

I just noticed on that site , Hays county SO has nodes, Kyle PD does not ? Maybe the feed provider might include those ?

Kyle PD does use OpenSky system, but not as a primary.

its really odd how their system is setup.
most of it is on the LCRA p25, but they still have old radios that also use OpenSky but they use a repeater back over to LCRA.

ive seen this on my SDR.
every once in a while it will show KPD talking on OpenSky but it says Patch Part Time.

VIDA allows for transition/integration between P25 and OpenSky. So you can set it up so that one talkgroup on OpenSky is equivalent to one talkgroup on P25. However, the patch makes me think it's a console patch between the two systems (even though it can be setup as a full time integration).

what site(s) do you have and what freq's are in your HP2? Have you updated the database lately? If i monitor the dripping springs LCRA P25 site and there's a pursuit going SB on I-35 and no other radios are affiliated on the dripping springs site, then I won't hear a peep. If you don't have the right CC or it's outdated you won't hear anything either :) If you're out of range from a site, or it's signal is sketchy, omit it from the list, otherwise your scanner will waste time searching sites, locking onto them, searching for an active TGID and going to the next site. and honestly, if there's any simulcast in your area, like dripping springs for example, has 2 sites within a few miles, then anything other than an SDS or SDR is going to struggle with reception. I live next to a water tower site and a 436 has a hard time even with a -45dBm signal.

i had problems with my 436 also.
then i got a better antenna for it, for home and in the truck, and it got MUCH Better.

TRAM 1199 Glass Mount Antenna

the main problem was that his System Profiles / Favorites werent setup correctly.

he DM me and i showed him my setup for
Hays CSO and Kyle PD on LCRA.

i think he has it sorted out now.
