I’m curious what is a good squelch level for the sds100 so i don’t miss transmission I tested it at 5 than 15 than down to 1 I just don’t know where to get it at I’m using the stock antenna on simulcast 1 in Travis county

2 is the lowest i would go. 3-4 is low squelch and should work well.
If you want to improve reception dont use the stock antenna.
the old radio shack 800mhz antennas or the new replacement remtronix antennas.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought squelch settings did not affect trunked operation on Unidens.

some have said it causes a longer scan time a sit holds on the last squelch opening.
i had a 396T that would give random talkgroups numbers when set at 0.

I have 2 SDS 100's monitoring the State of Colorado DTRS. In my area it is simulcast. I always set the squelch to 0. I have done that for years on any digital 800 MHz system that I have listened to. I only raise the squelch level to 2 or higher if I am listening to non-digital transmissions such as Civilian and MilAir Communications. I have never had any monitoring issues setting the squelch to 0. Your mileage may vary :)
