Took a nearby strike here in Florida this past week..... polyphaser didn't trip, but the Stridsberg multicoupler seems to have taken the worse end... saved all the radios... can't complain about that!

ordered on wednesday, shipped on thursday, here today.

will be sending the old one back for repair... hopefully it can be fixed.

anyways, I can't imagine my station without one of these - I use every single port on my 8 port model to feed scanners and my three airspys.... can't be more happy with the performance.

not cheap. but IMHO - the best. especially from the customer support standpoint.

Stridsberg have excellent customer support. They sent me a new amplifier transistor free of charge when my multicoupler died. It can only be the fuse or the transistor that have blown, a $1 device that are easy to unsolder with a standard solder pen.

You can get better performance from a $25 amplifier and a 1-8 $15 CATV splitter and then the necessary pigtails. You can have that as a backup or as a substitut and sell you two Stridsbergs and get a spare $25 amplifier to quickly use to replace a blown one. The advantage are that you can install that amplifier directly at the antenna that will give even better performance as it will have a constant impedance to the coax and antenna and will overcome any coax and connector losses, making cheap and easy to install RG6 the perfect choice for coax.

Wow, sorry to hear that. So you mean the PolyPhaser didn't work? I always read on here those things are supposed to be the best.

it was not a direct hit. the strike (per the web) was about 4 houses down... my guess is that it was enough near field to fry the small amp in the multicoupler but not enough to pop the polyphaser.... just a SWAG.

Had mine fixed out of warranty for a $60 flat rate charge which included international priority shipping. Turn around time was a day.

Some people charge $60 just for shipping.
