Single vs multiple antenna feed lines

I am just getting started with SDR and beginning to acquire the necessary equipment. I'm starting with a discone to explore and get my feet wet, fed to the SDR receiver through LMR400 coax. I'm sure there are 2-3 more frequency-specific antennas I will soon purchase (HF, airband, 800 Mhz, etc) , and so, to my newbie mind, the question is how to best design the system. Rather than trial and error, I'd like to tap into the collective experience here.

I can run dedicated antenna feeds for each antenna and switch at the SDR, or I can use a triplexer or another method I haven't discovered yet. I'm sure there are many pros/cons to each. I want to do it right, and appreciate any input you can share.

I'm still learning about Triplexers too, but as I understand it works as a filter and will filter than bands you don't want per antenna.

that discone will do an OK job on all the VHF/UHF and acceptable all the way up into 800. Depending on the model you bought and how high it's mounted. Yea a wire for HF will be necessary but for that you could have a coax switch and just choose the HF antenna when that is your listening preference.
