UPMan,
I know that a lot of people already know that the Siren App is out but you might want to update your Sticky thread "Siren Update" with an official release announcement.

How about enable the Siren App to work in the background? Now if I want to use the phone or other App it quits.

-Portrait Mode
-Ability to turn off screen and hear audio
-Louder Audio

That's about it for me. I'm simple. The always on thing drives me nuts being a cop and using it for work. That and there is a lot of real estate that is blank on the app so portrait mode wouldn't be an issue if you guys do it right. Having said that, it's getting there. I'm glad you guys finally came out with it. So far so good

Scan for available devices in network

For those with multiple scanners, a feature I'd really like to see added is the ability to scan for scanning devices on the network. Similar to other devices such as Apple TV etc.

My radiolab, soho, and work LANs have so many devices that I never remember the IPs without scanning the network. Also, I could assign an IP range for multiple uniden scanners configured for different radio services and locations with fixed IPs. I am more likely to remember the placement in the range of IPs that way.

I'd like a menu button...but agree mutual control over volume would be nice plus the profile view would make it more complete...

Add A2DP ability to stream scanner audio directly via Bluetooth to vehicle audio system.

Verify that the audio can still be played with device ringer/alert muted.

I have no problem streaming to both my work car (Ford) and home car (Chevy), in fact the chevy picked it up without me asking! I am using a VPN and the app works very well, the audio has about a one second delay compared to the display which generally is not a big issue.

Plans for the Siren App

UPMan

What are the plans for completing the Siren app, including remote control of the scanner from outside the home network, being able to control and listen to the scanner from the Internet?

If I recall when it was first announced that was going to be one of the features, which is what I purchased my 536HP

Anything you can share about the plans for the coming updates?

Thanks.

I know he said it was planned for a future release. I doubt he is willing to commit to a time table given the events of the past year, and even the past couple months. When you quote times, if you don't meet them you get a bunch of ticked off users.

I imagine they'll want to resolve the issues that they can with the iPhone app. Then their next task will be for the Android app. Following that any Android "bugs".

Plus they have the Analyze feature somewhere in the pipeline.

After getting all these things out of the way, then they can turn to the internet component.

So it right now it would be "guesswork" and Upman isn't inclined to that sort of thing.

Would be great in iOS to just swipe forward for Next, backward for Previous and up or down for Avoid.
Pinch could display scanner free space or some relevant status?

Thought Siren was awful but we had a dying 536 causing crashes, audio dropouts. Replaced it with new unit and Siren is outstanding!

Can't salute Upman enough for coming through and our media crews are already ordering new units for air and feet usage. We love the extra functionality of Siren.

I'll add my emphatic support for that feature.
After using extensively last night and switching between IPs for different scanners, inherently I wanted to swipe navigate in iOS style. Found the whole tap to menu for PREV/NEXT cumbersome and lacking efficiency...

Add that maybe pinch could actuate scanner device selection with left/right swipe between the scanners (assuming proper IP config) ala roll-to-choice and tap.

Btw, anyone else notice that PREVIOUS/NEXT features do not work with current app if on hold for system/ dept?

I had an idea a couple of hours ago that I'd like to toss out.

A nice addition to the app would be to display "UID"s for P25 systems, if there is enough screen real estate to do so. Perhaps just to the right of where it says "TGID: xxx".

Is that it? How amazing and deceiving this scanner has been. I bought what was promised on the presentation video, remote control over the Internet from anywhere in the world... WOW what a change, bought this box for that purpose when it came out... What an ongoing deception, on top of crashing my SD card on power lost and can't restard until I made it back home, no Internet remote control...

Hey Uniden, will give me back my money if I give you back your product???
Amazing on how this whole product was handled, released 2 years ahead, at least, of being ready as advertized, but you took my money right away to finance the missing part of your product it seems...

Will you reimburse me??

V1 = main scanning functions, LAN only
V2 = addition of Analyze
V3 = addition of Full Menu capabilities for all functions
V4 = WAN capability
V5 = still a secret

I bought what was promised on the presentation video, remote control over the Internet from anywhere in the world...

If I took the release video correctly, the Internet version was something to be released at a later date.

Uniden ran into some problems getting the dongle to perform satisfactorily. This resulted in a lengthy delay pushing everything back. Us customers were unhappy with this delay and Uniden was even more unhappy.

One of my favorite saying from my fire chief days was: "things go wrong from time to time - that's why they make fire departments".

Upman was in town for a trade show last week and we had a good conversation about the upcoming versions of the Siren App.

I feel really good that we'll be seeing things happen quicker than they have. So if you can give them a little more time, you'll have something you are happy with.

I do not know if it's possible to do things with an app, the scanner itself radio can not do.
Things like :

- Rename the custom service type
- Use custom icons for the types of services as well as the style of HP1
- In playback mode to display the time the file was recorded

I think it is easier to create an application to create a firmware update to hardware limitations

I stated some time ago that the only possibility of existing analize mode was a kind of simulator HP1, and I still maintain that idea considering the limitations of color and screen size scanner

You could translate "Custom x" in the app, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that if Uniden won't change it in the scanner...

Pretty much the same for the other two as well.
