Smith Ambulance was recently sold to J&C Ambulance, the parent company of EMT Ambulance, Stark-Summit Ambulance, and several other private ambulance services. As a result of this sale, a couple of changes have occurred to Smith Ambulance’s radio use. Presently, they are no longer using TG 46779, which was Smith Private, for their non-911 operations. They are using Motorola Wave TLK 100 radios which operate on a 4G LTE cellular network and are consequently not monitorable on any current scanner. Tuscarawas County 911 responses are still on MARCS TG 46863.
Additionally, for Stark MARCS listeners:
Smith Dispatch, formerly located in Dover, has now been moved to J&C’s dispatch center in North Canton which dispatches for all of their ambulance services. This change means that a radio in the North Canton dispatch center is continuously tuned to the Smith 911 TG, 46863. As a reslult, this TG will always be repeated on the Stark County MARCS Simulcast.
