sms interceptor.?

Hi everyone I am new to this forum and I am not sure if I am posting in the correct catagory, but my question is anyway..Is it possible to build a device that somehow intercepts all sms text messages in a short area..? I am a teacher at a local high school and boarding hostel and we are having problems with the kids sneaking out at night etc. I thought If I had a device as such, I could prevent things like this happning and also have something fun for me to build Any help or ideas would be great.Cheers. Possible probably, but far beyond the capabilities of all but a select few high-end R&D orginizations.

Alternatively you could block SMS going out entirely.

yeh but I still want to be able to txt also. It would also be handy to find out what they get up to and whats going on. I thought maybe if I can pick up the sms signal somehow that would be where I would start..

You might want to look into the legalities of illegal interception of electronic communications before you venture down that road.
