Anyone in Summerlin having trouble picking up the system? I just reprogrammed my Uniden BCD436HP and I am getting very limited traffic and it's only on the Las Vegas Simulcast site. I'm using the data from the Sentinal software after I updated it. The P25 system was working great previously. Am I missing something here?

Maybe time for a new hobby. lol

Im in Summerlin and do have trouble with Simulcast. The thing with trunked systems like SNACC is the sites are not linked and users radios automatically connect to the site that offers the best reception. So if you're listening to Apex and someone is on Angel, you may not hear all users. During an In-Flight Emergency (IFE) earlier today at McCarran, I was listening to the ARFF units on TG 2639 via Apex. I noticed I wasn't hearing all the units so I fired up another radio and heard more traffic on Simulcast than I did on Apex.

The same goes for LVMPD and their P25II system. If you're listening to Apex or Sunrise Mtn., you will only hear Bolden, Northeast, Northwest and maybe the Convention Center and Downtown Command Areas. If you want to hear South Central or Enterprise, you should listen to Simulcast, Blue Diamond, or Sloan.

Also, there is an error in the RR database. One of the more active frequencies on Apex 851.4000 is listed as 51.4000 so you will have to go into your radio and change it manually until the database is fixed.

HPD

I had that in my scanner as HPD TAC / SURV not sure what official label should be but I can confirm they are HPD.

Interesting, I'm not having that issue from Green Valley? I get hits from HPD on arden and apex and sometimes angel. What antenna are you using? PM me please.

Great info. I didn't know this. Funny thing is that I get Metro just great. Changing the threshold has helped.

Thanks for the help.

I use a variety of antennas, currently using the OEM.

You sometimes hear HPD on Angel because someone, possibly off-duty, has their affiliated radio tuned to HPD while connected to Angel. When that radio leaves the coverage area of Angel, you no longer hear HPD.

In Los Angeles there is a countywide, multi-agency system called ICIS and it works the same way. Burbank PD can only be heard on their home cell 'Glendale' unless someone with an affiliated radio tuned to Burbank PD travels to another site like Oat Mtn or Hauser. If the affiliated radio is connected to Oat Mtn, everyone listening to Oat Mtn will hear Burbank PD.

I have a list of TGs that had 1008 as 'NLV PD NARC White'. Divided by 16 is 63.

When listening to a trunked system with simulcast sites 99% of the traffic will be on the simulcast sites. For the SNACC system the only thing that won't be heard on the simulcast sites will be from radios that are outside the valley and only if they are talking to another radio on the same site. If they are talking to another radio that is using a talk group on the simulcast site you will still here the traffic. Hope that makes sense.
