That's largely a matter of opinion. Some people like the Butel ARC396, some people like Uniden's UASD software. I have used both, and I lean toward Butel's. The one you get used to and comfortable with is the one you will prefer. JMO.
And don't forget Scan Control...not only does it work with the 396, but (shameless plug here), it will shortly support the 996 (scheduled for Mid July - programming only first, control a bit later...). One of the nice things about SC is that it will support upgrading data from other Uniden scanners, if you happen to be in that position.
