• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Which of the softwares works best with the BCD396T
That's largely a matter of opinion. Some people like the Butel ARC396, some people like Uniden's UASD software. I have used both, and I lean toward Butel's. The one you get used to and comfortable with is the one you will prefer. JMO.

And don't forget Scan Control...not only does it work with the 396, but (shameless plug here), it will shortly support the 996 (scheduled for Mid July - programming only first, control a bit later...). One of the nice things about SC is that it will support upgrading data from other Uniden scanners, if you happen to be in that position.

And don't forget about the Linux software as well - in fact, we have links for both on the 396 wiki page.
