This past June, Solano County Board of Supervisors approved a contract with Motorola Solutions to expand their P25 Trunked Radio System with a new South Simulcast Cell, covering the Benicia/Vallejo areas. Once installed, the cities of Benicia and Vallejo will be moving over to the Solano County system from EBRCS.

Reading the contract, it will be a 4-site simulcast cell, and they will also keep the Hiddenbrooke ASR site currently used by Vallejo on EBRCS.

Here is a link to the contract via archive.org (so it doesn't disappear): Wayback Machine

thanks for this post... I was just trying to add Vallejo FD and PD to my Uniden 996P2 radio... i may have errors or perhaps input the wrong freq's... Only 2 days ago but i have not heard a peep and also it does not seem to get any CC data...i have added only 6 control channels from the two rows/columns in the pic. I did not input the two "black text" freqs... ... Any help would be greatly appreciated

A bit off subject maybe. But I’ve been curious why they went ERCBS when they did.

Their UHF analog system was falling apart, so they jumped on EBRCS for reliability.

I think adding a south cell to the Solano P25 system and moving Vallejo/Benicia there is a good idea. It will give them better interop with their own county, and they could still have EBRCS programmed in their radios for interop with Contra Costa if needed/desired.

EBRCS was always a long term temporary fix for Vallejo / Benicia. They needed a "right now" solution, and the Solano system was still a few years from doing what they're doing now.
