Who merged the two systems back together again, and depreciated the franklin twp system??

I believe Scott separated the systems as many users were having difficulty in getting the RR.com import feature to work with the franklin site as it uses a different custom table.

The issue was discussed in a few threads, some listed below.

Would someone please share why these systems were merged back together? Scott just completed the separation not even a month ago. Database admins should be working together, not destroying each other's work.

I think until radioreference can correct this glitch, and allow each site in the system to have it's own custom table, then the two sites should be treated as separate systems. People will be unable to use the import function for the franklin site as the custom tables will be wrong.

For anyone interested in, and with a scanner capable of, simultaneously monitoring multiple zones for a single system, the following custom table should work for this system.

This is recommended for experts only. Not all scanners will take this many entries on a custom table and fewer still do a decent job of scanning two different zones in the same system at the same time. If you are new to Trunktracking or at all confused by this then I recommend you program the two zones as two different systems using the configurations listed in the database here (County) and here (Franklin). Note that the recently-depreciated Franklin system entry listed an incorrect config, the older depreciated entry (from before the first time the two zones were merged) shows it correctly.

Base/Offset/Step (ChLo-ChHi)
500.3375/380/25.0 (380-429)
501.9125/430/25.0 (430-445)
471.8250/446/12.5 (446-449)
502.5125/450/25.0 (450-457)
471.9125/458/12.5 (458-462)
502.8375/463/25.0 (463-485)
472.3250/486/12.5 (486-539)
476.2500/540/12.5 (540-759)

The above will almost certainly change if/when frequencies are added to either site of the system.

Guys,

I decided to stay out of this for a couple of days, but I thank those that publicly supported my original reasoning for the separation, both here on the forums, and on PM's.

Eric Carlson changed the database himself, and has not responded to messages asking for the reason why he did. I brought this up in the admin's forum a few weeks ago, and other senior admins like Lou mostly agreed with my reasons for doing it (considering that both systems almost never cross-share TGID traffic, the different band plans, etc...).

I've been so busy with work lately that I haven't had the time to really argue the point with the big bosses...

Anything interesting happening here?

Nope, I don't agree with Eric folding Franklin back into Somerset County, but I'm not going to get into an argument over it.

What I don't like is that fact that the old Franklin layout is still sitting as a depreciated entry - it should be deleted outright...

Thanks Scott, I guess we all have to except change! :(
