Hi i was wondering if anyone in victoria can help me set up my scanner for the smr trunking radio system i currently monitor vkc wangaratta on 163.9625mhz however i want to set my scanner up for trunking so i dont have to keep changing frequency everywhere i take my radio. is there a way to set up the scanner so if i move to another area it will automaticly change freqency also i need help doing this for cfa and ambo's. i have a lot of ham radio knowledge but when it comes to setting up trunking i am just lost. is there a way i can set up my acanner so i can easly switch between all vic police ch's not melb oblivious cause of the digital.

i heard that you need a base station freqency and a band plan but i have no idea where to find these all i know is my local repeater freqency's and thats all everywhere i go i have to keep chain serching to find the next freqency. i have spent hrs on the net reading forums and sites on how to set up trunking but i just cant seem to do it. can anyone please help thx 73's from 1512 central Victoria

Help

The scanner that you have will not do this. there is only one scanner that will do this, that is a Uniden HP1. I am not even sure the scanner that you have will perform what you are asking for those freq's. Everytime you move to a new area you have to reset the new freq's

just looked at the database.
BC-Capital; list shows vhf/uhf frequencies and several trunking systems.
Didn't see anything listed as SMR.
When you programed the trunk system did you control channels in separate sites?
Are you programing by hand or using software?

It looks as if you need to set up 9 systems, one for each site, then switch as you move around.

That's why everyone should be required to show their location. It would make this all a lot easier.

Now that's something that should done that would be useful, rather than "improving" things that are working OK.
