I know this isnt a radio shack scanner, but I have he pro 106 and iam tryig to hook up a portable sony speaker. the box says it requires a 6V DC adaptor, but on hte back of the speaker it says 9vDC,. So i bought a 9VDC adaptor from radio shack a 300 ma and a 800 ma one and when i plug that in to the scanner it makes a buzzing noise. why is that. is that cause i have 9vdc adaptor. I should of gotten the 6v one then there will be no buzzing?

The powered speaker and the scanner have different "ground" reference points and this causes problems when connecting the amplified speaker to the scanner. It's called a "ground loop" and can be fixed with a ground loop isolator between the scanner and speaker. R/S sells a stereo one but you'll only need 1/2 of it. Just plug the stereo plug on the ground loop isolator into the scanner and get an RCA to 3.5mm mono adapter for the speaker to plug into. Use either one of the RCA jacks - one may work and the other not so you'll have to try both.

Note that the 3.5mm jack on the scanner is a stereo 'headphone' jack, not a monaural 'earphone' jack. Internally, it's wired so either will work, however.
