Ive had this BC125AT for +/- 3 months. Ive noticed lately that

A. You sometimes have to push keypad buttons twice or harder than usual,

And

B. The audio will randomly completely mute. I checked squelch (still happens with zero squelch), volume (even at max), and that there isn't a PL or DPL enabled (it happens even on weather radio broadcasts.

Its looking like it'll need to be sent in, but i would like to hear anyone else's experience with these problems, though I'm mostly concerned about the muting issue.

Im happy to answer any specific questions and am open to ideas.

other unidens had a headphone jack problem.
inserting and removing a plug a couple of times helped.
others used cleaners.
the plug thing is cheap and quick.

I have a UBC125XLT and UBC75XL (similar to BC125AT) and have not had your issues.

You could use my Scan125 Control Program to diagnose a little more. With Scan125 your can set volume, mute, etc. The program will read all the scanner settings so when you hit the mute problem again you can run the program and it will tell you the current volume/mute status. If the program says all is well then it could be something like a fault headphone jack, bad speaker connection/wiring, etc.

Regarding "muting" do you have priority or emergency weather alerts on? Maybe it's not muting, but changing away from what you are listening to, so that it can check if there is activity on a priority channel or a weather alert.
