Spectrum Strathroy

Anyone know if this system has gone silent. I don't hear the control channel anymore and have not heard Sunys Taxi for the last couple of weeks.

Yes it has been shut down by the looks of it. Spectrum was in town installing new radios for them last week.... no clue what they have moved to. Spectrum moved Cox Cabs in St. Thomas over to MotoTRBO in St Thomas.... dunno if they might do that here too or not. I've been periodically searching for new frequencies but haven't found anything so far. Actually... I did find one new frequency... 143.1900. Looks to be another TRBO channel for Strathroy Police.

According to TAFL 410.9875, 411.0875, and 412.0625 are licensed to Spectrum in Strathroy. 412.0625 has a strong data signal, so might be time to run a control channel decoder.

That data signal has now moved to 410.9875. Sure sounds like NXDN from the samples I've heard online.

I've heard digital on all 3 of those frequencies now..... But DSD doesn't seem to recognize it. Also seems odd that Spectrum would be using a Kenwood product vs MotoTRBO. Hafta get a peek in a taxi I guess, see what's there.

looks like about a 6 inch antenna mounted on the trunk deck of the taxi's, just a quick guess as one passed by, don't remember how it compares to what they were using before or even if it's the same, not decode with DSD on the frequencies assigned to Spectrum. Its possible they have gone to a MDT vs voice.

I haven't had any luck on those frequencies either.... they sound like NXDN but I can't get DSD to recognize it at all.

Not that I have come across. If I had to guess, I would say they are using NexEdge.

That seems odd to me as I know some of the spectrum folks, they are a Motorola dealer not a Kenwood.

Take a look a Spectrum's website, they are also an authorized Kenwood dealer. And they are actively advertising their NexEdge wide area network.

thats pretty rare..usually manufacturers dont let you be authorized installers and resellers for more than one company of competing products
