Very well could be. I remember the early days of Kojak, when he would bark orders into an under-the-dash mounted Bearcat scanner with an improvised attached microphone.

The horror movie Sinister 2 has, as one of its plot lines, a numbers station that the characters listen to on an old amateur radio receiver/transceiver.
I wondered at the time what model it is.
It's not a great movie by the way, and fairly violent.
The original movie Sinister is not bad though.
