Does it matter where the squelch is set at on a BCD325p2 for a Motorola Trunked system as far as how fast or slow it will scan and if it makes a Difference whats a good place to set it at. TIA Folks

If you set it too low, like 0 or 1, it can slow the scanning speed. Anything 2 or higher should not 3ffect scanning.

I leave mine set at 2. I think that's the default. But yeah, as marksmith said, if it's too low, it'll slow you down.

For normal scanning, your squelch should be at either a 2 or 3 unless you are trying to find and register close call hits, then you may want to go to a 4 or 5. lower than 2 and you will get nothing but static, higher than 3 and you will most likely be skipping over some frequencies.

What if I'm scanning 2-3 sites at a time due to the fact certain talkgroups are on specific towers, what should my squelch be set at so I have a happy medium between quicker scanning between sites and being able to hear 90% of my talkgroups without squelch affecting the scanners ability to hold on to the talkgroup and not drop it so I don't just hear part of a conversation?

The scanner will hang on each site for a few seconds regardless of your squelch setting. By all means, experiment, but from experience and the people we've helped here, going above 3 will make you miss good transmissions. Squelch is just the threshold of the quality of frequencies you receive, it can only make scan speed quicker by skipping transmissions.
