Sr. Citizen With SDS 200: Getting It Going Again Problems Please ?

Hello,

In my 80's now, so please bear with me a bit.

Have a SDS 200, which I haven't used for many years due to medical issues.
Have it going again, I think, but not too sure what I should do next.

I went to Sentinel, figuring I would first update the Firmware.

It is: 2.02 Rev. 01

a. Is this the latest ? Running W10

b. But when I try to update the firmware, the screen (Select microSD) comes up OK, but I can't seem to do anything from it.

The only box that seems ready to accept anything is INFO, but clicking on it does nothing.
Apparently, it is not seeing the radio. True ?

If so, cabling issue, or I haven't just selected or done "something" correctly ?

Should the radio be on or off to allow for the firmware updating ?

Any thoughts on how to update the firmware (if not the latest ?) and how
to get going again would be most appreciated.

BTW: is the SDS 200 still the "latest and greatest" ?

2.02 Rev. 01 is the current version number for the Sentinel Software running on your computer, that's not the scanner's firmware version.

The current firmware versions for the scanner are:

Main: Version1.10.00
Sub: Version 1.02.01

To check your version from the Scanner's menu system.... Menu ---> Settings ---> See Scanner Information ---> Firmware Version.

You should also update your database. The current database version is dated 5/16/2021.

To update your firmware or database, your scanner needs to be on and connected to your PC running Sentinel. When you connect the scanner to the PC with the cable included with your SDS200, you need to choose the "Mass Storage" mode by pressing the "E" key as instructed on the screen.

Complete, step by step, easy to follow instructions for updating your firmware and database are shown on page 10 of your owner's manual. Be sure to carefully read and follow all of the instructions there.

Latest main firmware on SDS200 is 1.10.08, or at least that's what mine shows.

Newly manufactured units may show a newer version to address minor changes in system hardware components etc. (you can find other threads explaining that in the RR forums), but the current versions available for public download through Sentinel are:

Main: Version1.10.00

Yes, it is currently Uniden's flagship base scanner

The current firmware versions for the scanner are:

Main: Version1.10.00
Sub: Version 1.02.01

Those are the versions that I have in my scanners. If I try to update the firmware, I get the message that I have the current version.

Yes one that I sold was 1.10.00, I bought one in late summer 2020 and it was 1.10.08 but Sentinel will not bring .00 up to .08, as was said it must be some type of minor housekeeping.
