SS and John Edwards visit in San Antonio

Caught the SS Command Post doing radio checks in the clear today with John Edwards being in town on 165.2125 and the motorcade getting underway.

Anyone catch anything else? This was from my location on the far north side, so I assume it was the command post at their airport.

Is that a part of what the PD had going about 0245 Sun Morning? Was listening down here in Corpus with rather poor ducting so just was hearing parts and bits of their traffic but could tell something was going on. Knew it involved choppers because of the background audio and then heard the north dispatcher advise his units at about 0330 "all officers hold your positions, special unit 1 advises sweeps are starting now, repeat, all officers hold position, special 1 advises commencing." That was about the time the ducting shifted and did not hear any more, sounded interesting and a little intense though.

using for Edwards?

They didn't use any - just radio checks, and postion and time reports for the motorcade. The command post was totally in the clear, the remote units were DES CVSD encrypted.

Thanks for the reply, LB. Occasionally, they'll say "XX Command Post", with the XX being the code name of the protectee. It's gets rather interesting when one side of the conversation is scrambled, and the
other "in the clear".

I'm looking forward to any upcoming visits here to DFW from either
Kerry or Edwards. Not sure if any are scheduled though, with all
these, ahem, conservatives up here... :wink: .....the other "C" word... :twisted:

They'll be in effect until 11/2, after which time they'll likely no longer be necessary.

I was quite surprised the first two nights of the DNC. SS Charlie (165.375) was APCO-25 but for the most part in the clear. Last night they were 100% encrypted, and I expect they'll definitely be tonight. They were ID'ing as "FleetCenter Security Room" and some of the comms were quite revealing and interesting. Lots of great stuff to be heard up here this week, one of the best monitoring experiences these parts have ever seen.
