Greetings...

Sooooo, did they go digital on 155.5800 or did they switch to the statewide WISCOM radio system? They are two different systems.

WISCOM is spotty at best in that part of the state, once you get off of I94. The whole Coulee Valley is pretty RF challenging. I'm betting they went P25 using their standard allocations using some version of Vertex, like Clark Co WI has done. Just a mistake in terminology.

I get spotty reception at best from my location in Eau Claire but I just heard SCSO on analog on frequency listed in database.

Yeah..used to be sketchy the farther east ya went when there was only one antenna on the smoke stack in Bayport..now there's like 6 towers scattered around the county for much better coverage with the handheld radios.. There's a tower somewheres over in New Richmond. I'm in Somerset and can pickup the tower(in Somerset) without an antenna on the radio

New Richmond tower is at the St. Croix Health Center. Been there since the 90's? Used to be on the Health Center's water tower. The put up a new tower a year or so ago. I think there's a tower south of the TA truck stop, one in Hammond (saw that one get bent to the ground by wind in '86), and one in Glenwood City. Not sure where else they added new ones except Somerset and I think Roberts?

For those locked out, even a first generation P25 scanner (like a BC-250D) that won't reband should keep you in the loop. PRO-96/PRO-2006 are getting very affordable used, and are still (IMHO) the best scanners out there. I don't like these new fangled doodads. Give me a PRO-96 and a RELM-HS200 anyday.
