I am not going to judge one way or the other; however, as was pointed out (somewhere, maybe in this thread) Don had a computer meltdown. I do know that he has not been on the RR site since June 7th. (See his profile:
DonS)
It is possible that something happened to all the records and/or key information and he is still working to replace/repair/whatever. I have no direct contact with him, but I have used most products he has put out (except Win97 or Win99) so I can tell you that the products work as advertised. I am guessing since the
StarrSoft Web Site is still active that it is hosted commercially and hence I would guess that anyone using the automatic functions would get good results. Getting a replacement key, or dealing with Don directly via email, snail mail or whatever seems to be a problem, but since we are not in his shoes, we really don't know what is going on out his way.
Now Mark, I use Win96, which works just like Win97, and I use Win2K on my Desktop. I have never experienced the problems you alluded to. Are you using a RS232 port on your computer or are you using a USB->Serial adapter? (This would include the RS USB programming cable.) If so, there have been COM port assignment problems in the past that may have some bearing on the upload/download problem you describe. In reference to the "delete" problem, I guess I have never bothered with it, I have always just used <Ctrl>+<X> to cut the line(s) and you get a similar type box for cutting, in any case I have never experienced what you describe.
