As I'm no expert and learned many thing here. I would like to start fresh with my radio, I have no particular system/favorites. I am currently at "Nothing to Scan". Is there a way to find and save anything that is in my range to receive?

The entire Radio Reference database is already in your scanner. Be sure to connect your scanner to the Sentinel Software and update the database. Enter your zip code into the scanner, and you will get a lot to scan from your area.

I tried that, it says the Database is 12/20/2020, but it still says Nothing to Scan.

Also, for complete starters from what I gather, is it fair to say to register your device with Uniden and purchase ProScan?

In Sentinel, edit -> add channels on range. Put your gps coordinates in, pick a range, select service types and create a new favorites list.

How do you find your coordinates and what if you leave your county?

All Service Types say "-". I was trying to manually turn them all on.

Probably lots of ways to find your gps coordinates, but what I use is google maps. Find your house, right click and a pop-up with give you gps coordinates.

There is no simple answer to travelling. You could buy a gps puck for scanner and enable full database. You could create separates favorites that you enable/disable with quick keys for the counties/areas you frequent.

I'd suggest you concentrate on getting your home location right before worrying about leaving home and scanning.

If you press Menu > Set Scan Selection > Select Lists to Monitor. Make sure "Full Database" is On if you want to only scan by zip code

Got it, thank you. Is there a way to set to ID Search instead of Scanning?

How do you enter your coordinates when you have an extra digit?

Trying to enter coordinates right now might be overthinking or complicating things unnecessarily.

When you enter a zip code via the keypad, the scanner will access a lookup table in the scanner's brains. This table will give the latitude and longitude for the center of zip code's area. So that is a very effective and easy way of establishing your scanner's location.

As part of the zip code entry process, you are asked if you want to turn the Full Database On, which you did. In doing so, you have loaded some things to scan in the scanner's memory. Had you said no, you would continue to receive the "Nothing to Scan" message, which is due to nothing being loaded in the scanner's memory.

In summary, your scanner requires "something" to be loaded in the memory to scan, be it the full database or Favorites List(s) (or both).

With a GPS device, with your phone, looking up the zip code of that town, etc, etc......Or best of all just buy a GPS for the scanner.

You can use google earth or many smart phones have ways of displaying where you are with regard to lay/long.

bigger question is what would you scan? Not much in database outside US and Canada.
