Here is the UK site for the Panorama Antennas they are using:

Modular Whips - Panorama Antennas - Specialists in Antennas

The US-based office for Panorama is out of Texas, but the website appears down:
http://www.panorama-antennas.com/us

As mentioned above Pointon Communications out of Baraboo appears to be the supplier to WI for this line.

Since the last update to this thread both E/M Wave and Laird have come out with gain antennas for this split using the standard NMO mount.

Hope this helps..

I found this thread relating to the black antennas state patrol uses.

Since your last post, have you found a place where one could purchase this same antenna? Or is there another brand that looks very similar?

Thanks!

As far as the state goes, it was a fad that came and went. For at least the last year, a normal NMO mount antenna has been used again. There were several issues with the Panorama's, mostly that they use a proprietary base/mount so that meant keeping double the amount of new and spare parts since not everything was converted from NMO mounts.

There is some other information about resellers on page 1.

Thanks for all of the info. For mounting this Panorama antenna, it appears my only options are to drill a hole or use a right angle bracket mount? In the past I have have used an NMO trunk lip mount. Guess I can't use the NMO trunk lip mount this for this specific antenna.

I'm trying to picture in my mind how this antenna would look with a right angle bracket near the trunk? Are there any pictures out there of antennas on the trunk with a right angle bracket?

Everything the state used is a permanent mount antenna, using a 1/2" or 3/4" hole (a unique rubber gasket allows for mounting in either size hole) but I think the company sells a trunk-lip mount on their british web site.

I'd just get a NMO mount of some sort and slap a normal 1/4w "chrome nut" antenna on it. The Panorama's wide split is not needed for RX and IMHO they don't work any better (possibly worse) than a "normal" antenna.

The Panorama Antennas are available in a NMO version. This was done because Motorola would not install their radios with any other type of mount.
