Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Static from LED lights

I just installed some auxiliary LED lights on my Jeep. They seem to create static in my CB receive when I turn them on. They are grounded to the Jeep body. The Jeep AM radio radio is not affected. Their power connection is thru the supplied Jeep auxiliary switches on the dashboard, there are 4 of these with a hot lead provided in the engine compartment. Any suggestions as to what I can do to eliminate or at least reduce the noise?

A ham I knew had the same thing happen recently. He tried everything - the only fix was to throw those away and buy a different brand/design.
(Better not to call this static. A better term is interference or "QRM". "Static" really has a different meaning.)

Where is your CB getting its power?
Where is your CB antenna located?
Where are the new LED lights located?

Some are just noisy, as dlwtrunked suggested, and there may be no easy fix, but making sure the CB is getting clean power and the antenna is away form the lights is a good step.

In the case I mentioned, I went to his house with a small receiver. The things were terrible even at a distance from the vehicle. I do not know what model they were but it convinced me to never add lights like that.

Many of the cheap china lights do this. I bought 3 sets of headlights for my jeep before I found a set that didn't destroy my ham radio. Buy name brand is what I came to realize.

The power wiring is usually what radiates the interferance. You can usually reduce this with clamp on ferrites at both ends of the light power and radio power.
Use quality lighting, China is still fighting us and they are winning.
