Why do people make a post like this without giving the state? Kind of hard to get a
response if people don't recognize the exact location right off.

Look BEFORE you post...

Well!
If you would have taken a look before you posted a reply, you would have noticed that he posted in the CONNECTICUT forums so the state is a given at that point...........DUH?

Station M et al

It's not unheard of one town, station, department etc, dispatching for another on a non-routine basis. It could be for one of a number of reasons, announced or unnannounced. Some of the most "common" are

Equipment breakdown
Equipment changeover
test purposes
personnel shortage
interop verification/exercise

Some instances are rare, some not so rare. I wouldn't get too concerned when "Station X" shows up dispatching for "Station A"

73 and good listening

KX IS in the middle of a renovation...

During this renovation, there are occassional 'down' times of certain links to certain towers.

Salem and Gardner Lake get 'dual' set's of tones, from two locations - one of those locations is bound to be 'down' at some point in time while new systems are patched in.

Montville has the next best coverage to cover the town of Salem..

Thanks why..
