0420 local no call sign but:
mode s: 15-00338 / AE5C8F / flt. # R50338 / Army DH8C-RO/6A passing through area after 5 hour flight out of / into Manassas.
Spent 3 hours over Toms River with increasing then decreasing distance from LH doing parallel tracks SE of and perpendicular to Lakehurst.
Heard on 230.875 initially on return to Manassas with radio check. Indicated that if comms were not good, will switch to 223.000 FM.
Indicated reading 5x5, how me on 230.875 ? One minute later comes up on 223.000 FM and indicates 'resetting mini-router'.
Then, (sounds like) 'APG338 up in pigeon' ??
Is 223.000 FM common for anything ?
1410 EST-- ADS-B showing both 82-8000 & 92-9000 having departed ADW both carrying callsign AF1. 82-8000 is heading northwest & 92-9000 heading southwest.
Thats odd. 220 MHz to 225 MHz is the 1.25 cm ham band0420 local no call sign but:

I'm guessing that APG is Aberdeen Proving Ground in northern MD.
I agree. It is odd. That whole 5 Mhz segment is not all ham. I believe that 220-222 is allocated outside of amateur use. FedX as well as others have digital data transfers below the hams. Still, 223.000 ?Thats odd. 220 MHz to 225 MHz is the 1.25 cm ham band
That testing goes on almost daily. It's usually the DH8C's or the RC-12 variants
Thanks Ron, makes sense.
1720- Now have orderwire on 338.95 that must be E-6B 163920 TERSE76. I could make out that it's heading to home station.
wow ! that's big. THANKS Terry ! Will pursue this tomorrow as this is my bedtime. Getting older but due to rise at ~ 2am.Was able find out that Army 338 belongs to Leidos (DOD contractor) flying the Northrop Grumman Vader pod.
