Nighthawk-31 flight of two just cleared PHL airspace heading south. Prior to hearing them with ATC, I heard a lot of rumbling in the distance like I have when Ospreys have pass through recently.

McGuire space A has C-17's to Cherry Point MCAS Tues and Weds and Dover did have one listed for Weds
but since taken down. Saw blurb this morning from UK that mentions Cherry Point F-35B's will deploy RAF Marham
by end of August. RAF Marham is where the RAF F-35B's call home.
Must be taking full squadron perhaps if they are loading up multiple C-17's for men and gear.. Lots of tool boxes.
Sounds like Coronet job for McGuire KC-10's with their multiple drogue hoses unless Marines want OTIS KC-130J's.
I think KC-10's would be quicker.. Course maybe 2+2 =5 so not sure :)

0925- DeeCee 21 flt (3 X KC-1356Rs 756th ARS) off ADW heading south. Working ZDC Patuxent (133.9). Unusual to see flt of three KC-135s. They went down to Norfolk area then looks like they are going out to W386/W122.

Guys,

I was chatting with Larry Van Horn about the DC ANG UHF freqs.

Here is his reply:

The three are very interesting.

238.175 is a nationwide ACC A/A and a Vacapes opera freq. So this is probably mission not an assigned sqdn tac.
285.225 is a USN Ship/aircraft ops freq for 2nd and 3rd flt. Again this looks mission not an assigned sqdn tac.
319.175 this is an AMC Atlantic TACC Random CR Plan freq. Again this looks mission not an assigned sqdn tac.

Not saying these aren’t sqdn tacs, but the assignments above are nationwide and the 285.225 is a definite USN fleet support channel.
But I have put them in the db and sourced them to you.
Winking smile

BTW had an interesting interchange on twitter this morning about a Score 92 flight in your backyard.

The original poster mentioned it was an MQ-9B, which I thought was interesting. Another said E-2D.

It all revolved around the hex code block AE2FD0-AE2FD8.

Yes, I know that Score is the VX-20 c/s. But Score 92 is not unique to an E-2D only. I have seen one of their F/A-18 use it.

Also the navy has been experimenting using the MQ-9 as a relay platform for sonobuoy / ASW mission.

So you and the MD gang might want to keep an eye on AE2FD2/D3/D6. I’m not saying 100% that these are static and used exclusively or ? I am inclined to believe that the three hex codes above and in this block could be used randomly for various platforms and NOT assigned to a particular airframe.

I am watching it but you guys are closer to this than me.

I can confirm that DC ANG used 238.175 while in Michigan for their exercises last month and I believe they referred to it as an aux preset. I think it is a squadron tac.

I can also confirm that 319.175 was used by DC ANG during a cross-country (without tanker support) and was also referred to as an aux preset. Near me, it is used by IN ANG as one of their squadron presets.

The 927th is USAFR. They used to be located at Selfridge, but moved to another facility, down south, and transferred the KC-135s to the 127th. (Some of their personnel transferred, too, as they did not want to change drill sites.)

Yes see 927ARW fly out of MacDill AFB still using training callsign like BOLT as homage to their Detroit lineage.

I think may be for Langley F-22's enroute Lakenheath.. Seems every time they spot a tanker
at Dover it is for Langley Birds. Prob another out of McGuire will meet them off Snow Hill MD
and run them up to Bangor area testing A/R etc along the way.May have a spare or two as well.
They almost always like to start out early say 3-4 am local as well. Usually the one time F-22's are not stealthy
as they add two ER wing mounted fuel tanks to make the long trip.... Will try and follow them if awake :)
