So what could possibly happen that makes it so they can't put the gears down?

AF1 departs ADW @ 2:50pm with arrival in Minneapolis-St Paul at 4:15 CDT, 7:05 CDT makes the 45 minute trip to Duluth Int'l. Return trip leaves Duluth at 9:25 CDT with arrival in ADW 12:40am EDT

Friday look for the return of 99-0003 (SAM432) from Italy/Croatia carrying Sec'y of State. 98-0002 is on the ground in Malta, just south of Italy where Pompeo is, wondering if it is a BU for his flight or something else. No info on State Dept travel to Malta, though there is an under sec'y in Austria/Belgium/Portugal/Spain/Albania on unknown SAM flight until Oct 4th.

Maybe a decision to make a belly landing upon seeing they weren't going to make the hard surface runway?

This was a question asked before seeing that most of the engines and props were trashed. Might've been lacking hydraulics to drop the gears and work the brakes.
