These are not one and the same. DCM= "Dotcom" = FltPlan.com Allows flights to operate with the Dotcom callsign to obfuscate tracking. These flights are not available for tracking on Flightaware either. No associated plane registered to 4185D. It's reserved by the FAA's Surveillance and Broadcast Services office. Maybe they're maintaining some regs to be used for privacy like this?

Look at the speed of the DCM flight, clearly a jet not a C-130. Also returned to MDT a few hours before.
DCM4140 http://archive-server.liveatc.net/kmdt/KMDT1-App-Dep-West-Oct-12-2020-1600Z.mp3
BATON74 http://archive-server.liveatc.net/kmdt/KMDT1-App-Dep-West-Oct-12-2020-1830Z.mp3

No mention by ATC to other traffic that would ID the type. I didn't check tower or ground comms.

Okay let me try this again. The mil hex code should have been listed in my report as AE0248 Tail 96-8154. Does that clarify things better ?

I reviewed LiveATC for 1400 GMT (1000 local time) and BATON 74 departed Harrisburg and climbed to 24K. Frequencies used after Harrisburg departure were New York Center on 133.475 and then Washington Center on 134.150

I know it was listed wrong, I maintain a DB of hex codes for reference.

No. You said
DCM4140 (A4F4E3) departed KMDT and heading southwest. Shows as 96-1854 a C130 on flightaware. I read that as you saying BATON74 is using both hex codes and they are not two completely different aircraft.

Looks like KPSM for the touchdown :)
Question now is why Travis KC-10's on this upcoming hop.
Maybe will get a SPUR 71,74 later out of McGuire to assist?

GLARE12 91-00516 doing a north-south pattern between me and DC. I'm searching for any air>ground comms.
1339- Getting an occasional open carrier on 267.35.

1335- DC ANG x4 on 238.175, sounds like they are inbound to ADW.

Okay on point 1 - understand

On Point 2 - I monitored Harrisburg via LiveATC and nothing else took off from Harrisburg that climbed to 24K and was following the same track at the same time. So Flightaware was tracking BATON74 and other services were tracking the other hex code. My screen had DCM4140 with hex code A4F4E3 maintaining 24K in the same locations as the C130 (and ATC comms confirmed no other aircraft in close proximity. Just perhaps the BATON74 was also using a second transponder with that assigned hex code and a flight plan filed with DCM4140 for testing purposes.

When unusual hex codes pop up on the screen and I am sitting at the computer - I usually do a lot of research and follow the flight just to see what else happens. As a hobby - those kind of things make it fun.

Encrypted static on 139.075 known SNC freq.

DCM4140 is heard 10 minutes into this.

A useful tip for anyone reviewing any sort of recordings, use Audacity so you can see where the voice is and skip the dead air.

1422- BLACKJACK3 on approach for Rwy32 at Winchester. 125.525

SCORE13 AE2FD7 is operating today, looks like RTB right now. Not much flight history. Hoping to get an ID.
Actually IDing as SCORE3 with ATC upon review of LiveATC archive.

1425- ARMY50332 RO-6A is now RTB for Manassas. 128.525

1432- Heard the distinct sound of GAF209 A400 passing nearly overhead, departing Dulles.
