0030 local overnight TURTLE 8 C-17 #88-0266 437th AW inbound McGuire for ERO offload of 5 Med Pax and alpha 1.
One of the oldest C-17's flying today I think McChord AFB 62AW still has 88-0265 flying.

0330 local UPS doing their mass launch of cargo aircraft out of KPHL as half dozen climbing up various directions.
They must line up single file coming out of their cargo ramp very early and depart quickly.

More Mil Med pax coming soon from Colorado.

Guys,

Anyone heard the McGuire tankers on 139.875 or 143.825 lately?

Ron,
Two TEAMs are currently up in AR-212 in Maine and they just switched from 268.025 to 139.875 Then they switched over to 238.9 AR-212 Primary. As someone else mentioned, they have mostly been using 268.025 lately for their training as well as sometimes using it for their AAR Primary freq as well. It's been quite awhile since I have heard the VHF freqs here too. Today was the first time in quite awhile.

Okay please confirm that you have the frequencies programmed as FM mode and not WBFM. I usually switch to WBFM once I have captured a signal and am interested in listening to any comms on the center channel.

I swept by hand from 220 - 406 looking for the E6 MUX (several times) while he was inbound to the shoreline plus after he passed by - I did not detect any downlink. So they either did not have it operating - or there was some other issue.

Terry,

In one scanner (RS-2045) I have them programmed as FM. In my other one BC-895 I can only program that freq range as AM but still hoping I would hear something (carrier noise, etc) even in AM mode.

Okay good. I will check next time I have MUX active and will see how it sounds in AM mode and if it is off frequency.

They usually do not chat that long anyway....usually just something like - we are switching to RF so and so or some other technical issue that seems to get resolved quickly.

Terry
Terry,

Sounds alot like what I hear on HF when they are on the HF-GCS. They will phone patch to a GEP (by callsign) ask for an RF in analog or digital or call into a GEP and ask what analog & digital channels are available. I know there is a GEP in Brandywine MD (near PAX) but not sure if there are any others in the mid-Atlantic. There used to be a list of GEP locations but can't find it online anymore.

The GEP is located in Waldorf MD.

Remote control capability includes all radio control functions, circuit matrix switching, alarm monitoring, trouble isolation and network testing. Remote control is accomplished through a dedicated channel on the T-1 lines between the Waldorf and Omaha Network Control Centers and the GEPs. Dial-up access is available to each individual GEP to provide back-up support in the event of control line failure. Majority of T-1 lines between GEPs and SGOCs are owned and operated by AT&T.
